Technical ceramics for high-temperature applications

In the field of high-temperature technology materials have to withstand high temperatures up to far more than 1000 °C without any distortion or fatigue. For most materials that is not sustainable in the long term. The technical 3D-printing ceramics can withstand operation temperatures of 1600 °C and more. Moreover, even at highest application temperatures in the ultra-high vacuum they keep stable without softening or flowing. Broad application areas for components from 3D-printing ceramics have been opened up in the industrial furnace construction, in the glass and steel industry, in control and measuring technology, in research, in the development and in the field of thermal analysis and process engineering.

Insulation of thermal elements

The high dimensional stability, the gas tightness and electrical insulation of the 3D-printing ceramics at high temperatures can optimally be used for insulation and protection of thermal elements.

3D-printing ceramics can perfectly be used in the field of thermogravimetry. In thermogravimetric instruments measurements can be carried out in toxic, explosive and corrosive steam atmospheres and reaction gases under pressure up to a temperature of 1600 °C. The measurement is made possible by a magnetic suspension balance. In the furnace measuring cell pipes from 3D-printing ceramics allow a safe separation of the reaction atmosphere from furnace and balance.

A further analytic instrument in which 3D-printing ceramics play a major role is the dilatometer. It allows to carry out high-precision measurements of temperature-dependent dimensional changes of pastes, melts, powders and solids at certain varying temperatures.

Also annealing boxes, crucibles and combustion boats from 3D-printing ceramics are most suitable for annealing and melting at very high temperatures in research and development.

Bubbling pipes for the glass industry

In the glass industry components from 3D-printing ceramics also prove effective, for example the so-called bubbling pipes being used in glass melting tanks. The bubbling serves the expulsion of reaction gases from the melted glass, especially of carbon dioxide.

Ceramic panels for research laboratories

Due to their dimensional stability and corrosion resistance, panels of 3D-printing ceramics are used as firing shelf for melting and annealing at high temperatures in research laboratories and universities.

High temperature heating elements

Heating elements of 3D-printing ceramics succeed in any fields where conventional heating cartridges stop working. Depending on application they can be conceived in tubular form, bar-shaped or plate-like. They are used, for example, as glow ignitors for biogas, pellet, gas and oil ignition. They are applicable as well for generating hot air and for tool heating.
