When would I use natural rubber and when silicone?

Natural rubber is suited for applications where temperature resistances of maximum 120 °C are required. At working temperatures from 120 °C to 200 °C you should use silicone rubber.

Why are there differences in colour?

The different colours of the membranes simply serve as a visual distinction in application. Thus you may choose any colour you like for your project. The colour of the material does not have any influence on the application.

Which thicknesses do you provide?

Our membranes are available in material thicknesses of 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm and 4 mm.

How can I order?

To place an order for our membranes please use our request form or send us your written order by e-mail (info-fc(at)steinbach-ag.de) or by telefax (0 52 31 96 07 53).

What are your minimum order sizes?

The minimum order size for membranes is one linear meter.

Where do I find prices?

Due to the diversity of our portfolio and the individual requirements there is no general price list for membranes. Please use our contact form for your query.

Do you deliver to private individuals?

We gladly deliver our membranes even to private individuals. Please note that the minimum order size is one linear metre. Use our contact form for your query.

How temperature-resistant are the membranes?

Our natural rubber membranes dispose of a temperature resistance of maximum 120 °C. For a temperature resistance from 120 °C to 200 °C silicone rubber is appropriate.

What is the difference between TDBN and TPHN?

TDBN and TPHN are high-quality natural rubbers especially suited for the pressing of foils and veneers.

TDBN is a special compound that should only be used for veneers because on other surfaces yellowing effects could occur. We provide TDBN natural rubbers in material thickness of 4 mm.

TPHN is appropriate for the pressing of foils. As a standard we offer TPHN in material thicknesses of 2 mm, 3 mm and 4 mm.

For the pressing of complicated undercuts, profiles and milled grooves a low rubber hardness (Shore A), an adequate elasticity and a sufficient elongation are required. All three demands are guaranteed by our TPHN and TDBN in 4 mm thickness.

Which membrane is particularly tear-resistant?

All membranes dispose of a high tear resistance of approx. 600 % and more. When pressing pay attention to sharp edges as well as to the correct preload because they can impair the tear resistance.

What are the widths of your membranes?

Our standard widths with silicone are 1.660, 2.000, 3.000 and 3.500 mm. Natural rubbers TPHN / TDBN are available in 1.700 and 1.900 mm.

Why are some membranes textured?

The textured side is characterised in particular by a uniform heat distribution in the membrane press. The textured finish is also widely used for high-gloss films in order not to minimise the gloss level by a too smooth surface.

What is Lamibran®?

Lamibran®is a specially developed membrane consisting of a silicone backing material and a unique covering layer. This covering layer is extremely resistant to outgassing and to related decomposing processes of EVA films. This makes Lamibran® particularly durable and increases your machine running times. So Lamibran®is especially suitable for the application in photovoltaik. To find out more about the technical details and available sizes of our Lamibran please turn to our product site.

What is the protective cloth?

The temperature-resistant protective cloth is provided with a silicone coating on one side, disposes of a material thickness of 0.3 mm and a width of 1.600 mm. In veneer pressing it serves as a protection of the membrane. Due to the protective cloth the membrane is preserved, thus extending the persistance of the membrane.

How can I avoid the yellowing of my films?

Yellowing effects with films can occur when membranes of a low physical level are used. Steinbach provides high-quality membranes for a pressing of films without yellowing effects guaranteed and durable.

Can natural rubber membranes with seams be enlarged?

Unfortunately our natural rubber membranes cannot be bonded so that natural rubber membranes cannot be enlarged with a joining.

How can membranes be repaired?

For repairing silicone membranes a repair kit with silicone adhesive and silicone patches of 1 mm thickness is available. Please use our contact form to ask for the repair kit.

Which vacuum bags do you offer?

We offer two vacuum bags made of silicone:

On our product site for vacuum bags you receive further information as well as the option for a query on the product.

What is the purpose of the fabric mesh in the vacuum bag?

Due to the glass fibre fabric mesh the vacuum can be enlarged more easily.

Do you deliver the vacuum pump as well?

Unfortunately we do not deliver a vacuum pump.

To which countries do you deliver?

We deliver world-wide in consideration of country-specific requirements. Do you require a local contact? Steinbach AG has got international subsidiaries in Charlotte (USA), Shanghai (China), Taipei (Taiwan) and Brisbane (Australia) to ensure global market presence, reliability, demanding applications and process reliability for our customers.

Do your products involve hazardous substances?

In processing and production of our goods we strictly comply with legal requirements. All products by Steinbach AG are REACH and ROHS-compliant.
